The cast of Maintenance Required includes Madelaine Petsch as Charlie, Jacob Scipio as Beau, Madison Bailey as Izzy, and Katy O’Brian as Kam. Inanna Sarkis, Matteo Lane, and Jim Gaffigan also appear in the romantic comedy. However, one detail gives Petsch’s performance extra context: she learned the practical garage tasks her character performs before filming began. Her preparation offers a useful way to look beyond the names in the credits.

A useful casting correction: Madison Bailey plays Izzy. Although Rotten Tomatoes’ cast page labels her character Charlie, Bailey names Izzy while discussing her performance in a firsthand interview with ComingSoon. Charlie is Madelaine Petsch’s character.
Madelaine Petsch Learned the Garage Work Before Playing Charlie
In an October 7, 2025, interview with ComingSoon, Petsch explained that she entered the project with almost no car-maintenance knowledge. She then spent time in a garage learning the actions the script required, including working beneath a car and under its hood. As a result, her preparation focused on becoming comfortable with Charlie’s everyday movements. That distinction matters: Petsch described learning the work needed for the film, which does not establish that she trained as a professional mechanic. For viewers, it provides a concrete detail to watch during the workshop scenes.
Charlie’s Coveralls Carry a Family Connection
The costume choices add another piece to Charlie’s characterization. In a September 9, 2025, interview with Glamour, Petsch said the costume designer sourced vintage mechanic coveralls intended to represent clothing that had belonged to Charlie’s late father. Those coveralls became her regular workwear. Read alongside Petsch’s practical preparation, that choice suggests a character who carries her family history into her working day. It gives the garage setting an emotional connection as well as a visual identity.
The “Super Bass” Scene Reveals the Ensemble’s Playful Side
Meanwhile, a car singalong gives Madison Bailey and Katy O’Brian a different kind of performance challenge. Asked about the scene featuring Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” in ComingSoon’s October 8 cast interview, Bailey said she already knew the lyrics when she arrived. She also joked that Izzy had chosen the playlist, while acknowledging the awkwardness of repeatedly lip-syncing for filming. O’Brian, meanwhile, recalled occupying much of the backseat. These recollections offer a small, specific glimpse into making the scene: an apparently casual moment of friendship still involved repetition and performance.
Jacob Scipio’s Memorable Moment Involved a Vintage Ford Bronco
For Jacob Scipio, one memorable romantic sequence involved filming with Petsch in Big Sur, California. In an October 10, 2025, interview with Swooon, he recalled driving a vintage baby-blue Ford Bronco along a stretch of road the production had closed. He also described Beau as a hopeless romantic, a change of pace from his action roles. Together, those observations explain the softer side he wanted to explore: Beau’s appeal rests on vulnerability and connection alongside the business rivalry.
